- Successful first year with satisfied tenants
- Husum significantly strengthened as a shopping and leisure destination
- New leases with The Store Men / Jack & Jones and Cecil / Street One, among others.
Hamburg/Husum, October 6, 2020. THEO Shopping Center in Husum on the North Sea coast is celebrating its first anniversary: on October 9, 2019, the inner-city shopping center developed by Girlan Immobilien Management opened on the former Hertie site. Since then, the fully leased shopping center with around 12,000 square meters of leasable space and 650 parking spaces has become a magnet for visitors, attracting numerous customers from the entire region as well as numerous tourists. Frequencies and sales, with interruptions due to the lockdown, have steadily moved upward in the first year. The number of tourists in Schleswig-Holstein continues to rise, which also benefits Husum and THEO. Anchor tenants in THEO include EDEKA, dm, New Yorker and H&M. Recently, The Store Men / Jack & Jones and Cecil / Street One joined as new tenants.
Peter Cohrs, co-investor of the THEO Shopping Center and shareholder of the fashion house CJ Schmidt, is delighted: “The THEO is a real success story. In symbiosis with the shopping city of Husum, THEO embodies the motto ‘My shopping day by the sea’ in an outstanding way. Even at the opening in 2019, the rush was so great that we had to close temporarily. Since then, sales and footfall have steadily increased, with only a brief interruption in the second quarter of 2020. THEO is a lively, open marketplace and a real frequency driver for the Old Town. We thank all tenants and partners for the successful first year and, despite all the challenges, are very optimistic about the future.”
Martin Mörl, Managing Director of THEO Center Manager Girlan Immobilien Management, adds: “The balance of the first year is extremely positive. From day one, THEO enjoyed great acceptance and popularity in the city, among tourists and throughout North Frisia. The Husum shopping center has exceeded our goals and expectations as project developers and center managers, and we expect sales to continue to grow. The center concept is based, on the one hand, on an optimal mix of local supply, fashion and gastronomy and, on the other, on new, regional and established brands and tenants. This tenant and product range structure is also proving its worth during the pandemic. Overall, THEO has significantly revitalized the city center and strengthened Husum as a shopping and leisure destination – a successful example of the conversion of a former department store site into a contemporary, well-dimensioned shopping center.”
Tenants and brands in THEO are EDEKA, dm, Reformhaus Engelhardt, H&M, Vero Moda, Esprit, Zero, Only, New Yorker, Tom Tailor, Gabor, Ecco, The Store Men / Jack & Jones, Cecil / Street One, Bijou Brigitte, Parfümerie Schuback, Beauty Garden, Friseur Babel, Vodafone, Nanu Nana, Home & Living by CJ Schmidt, Hallmann Optik, WMF, Reisecenter im THEO, M. Niemeyer Cigars and the park community Husum. The gastronomic offer includes Asia Linh Linh, DönerWerk, Su-Ja, Eiscafé Giovanni L., Waffelgut, von Allwörden and Subway.
