Giessen, January 25, 2022. the shopping center neustädter and the Giessen basketball Bundesliga team “JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers” have entered into a close cooperation that includes a fan merchandise and ticket store, which is to be occupied in the first quarter. In addition, joint campaigns, the use of outdoor advertising space and the presentation of the new team after the summer break are planned.
“Welcome to neustädter, 46ers!” says Fabiola Peiniger, center manager at Girlan Immobilien and responsible for the property. “The 46ers are a great team, known for loyal fans and firmly rooted in Giessen. We are therefore very pleased to be their partner and to start the new year with this sporting cooperation. Nice joint actions will be, for example, an autograph session with the players of the 46ers in February and other exciting actions.”
Sebastian Schmidt, Managing Director and Sports Director of the JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers, comments on the cooperation: “The cooperation with neustädter has advantages for both sides. The JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers fan and ticket store is excellent for being even closer to our fans. Super is also the greater visibility of our team in the Giessen city center. At this new location, we are planning a lot of great actions for youth and fan work; from a signature campaign to tournaments together with the JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers players.”
“Since 2018, we have extensively modernized and repositioned the center and successfully developed it further despite the difficult Corona situation. The tenant mix has been optimized and, for example, we have been able to attract the gastronomic highlight ‘Schlaraffenland’ at the new West Entrance to the center. Another highlight for us is, of course, that we can now welcome the 46ers basketball team to the neustädter. With attractions such as this friendly first league club 46ers, we are sending an important signal and will not only attract the fans of Giessen with the fan and ticket store, but also make the center even more attractive for our customers overall,” says Guido Beddig, Head of Asset Management Commercial at CORESTATE on the cooperation agreement.
Among the tenants in the Shopping Center neustädter are H&M, Media Markt, Müller Drogerie, Woolworth, Tegut, Penny, Kult, Tally Weijl, Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Bastler Zentrale, Apollo Optik, Reno, Shoes & More, FitX and numerous gastronomic offers. The advantages of the only inner-city shopping center in Giessen with a leasable area of around 32,000 square meters include excellent transport links, more than 1,000 parking spaces in the adjoining multi-storey parking lot, the large catchment area of around 870,000 inhabitants and the above-average proportion of young people in the university town.
The basketball division of the Gießen Men’s Gymnastics Club, founded in 1846, was established as early as 1937. The home venue of the JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers is the Sporthalle Gießen-Ost. Today, the club operates two of its own youth teams, each of which plays in the highest national league: The U19 in the junior national basketball league and the U16 in the junior national basketball league. In addition, the club has its own U12, U14 and U18 teams, all of which play in the top division.
