Husum, October 9 – The new THEO Shopping Center in Husum opened to overwhelming success, welcoming around 35,000 visitors as well as guests from business, politics, and local administration. Due to the massive influx of people, the shopping center had to temporarily close its doors to manage crowd capacity.

Located in the heart of Husum, the economic and tourist hub of North Frisia, THEO offers:

  • 35 shops across 12,000 square meters of rental space
  • 650 rooftop parking spaces, doubling the available inner-city parking
  • Anchor tenants including EDEKA, dm, New Yorker, H&M, and Home & Living by CJ Schmidt
  • A 96% occupancy rate at opening
  • A construction period of just under three years

A Milestone for Husum’s Retail and Tourism Scene

Peter Cohrs, Co-Investor and Chairman of Husumer Commerzium, stated:
“The massive turnout on opening day, with tens of thousands of visitors, shows the region’s enormous interest in THEO. This shopping center significantly strengthens Husum’s position as the premier shopping destination in Northern Germany. With its well-balanced mix of retail and dining, THEO enhances Husum’s appeal for visitors from Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark. Many of the three million annual day tourists will now enter the city center through THEO’s central parking facility, making Husum a key hotspot on the North Frisian Wadden Sea.”

A Future-Oriented Retail Hub

Martin Mörl, Managing Director of Prelios Immobilien Management, which developed, leased, and manages THEO, emphasized:
“Even in the age of online shopping, well-designed shopping centers remain a success. THEO stands out with its prime city-center location, diverse offerings, and Husum’s largest parking facility. It seamlessly integrates into the historic old town and existing retail landscape while introducing new brands and fresh concepts to the city.”

Mörl continued:
“Thanks to strong retail metrics, synergies with the renowned CJ Schmidt department store, and an attractive concept, we secured a mix of leading regional and international brands for THEO. The outstanding opening day confirms that THEO is a major asset for Husum and Schleswig-Holstein as a whole.”
