Giessen, November 26, 2021. The opening of the vaccination center of the district of Giessen took place this afternoon in the neustädter shopping center in Giessen, attended by district administrator Anita Schneider, Udo Liebich, overall management of the vaccination outpatient clinic and vaccination center, Christian Betz, board member of the DRK Kreisverband Marburg-Gießen, Renate Braun, medical director of the vaccination outpatient clinic and vaccination center, and Fabiola Peiniger, center manager of Girlan Immobilien. The vaccination center in the shopping center neustädter on the second floor is another stationary vaccination offer of the district with about 1,500 square meters. The DRK Kreisverband Marburg-Gießen and the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Regionalverband Mittelhessen take over the operation. The land is provided to the county free of charge.
“We at Einkaufszentrum neustädter are pleased to be able to support the district of Gießen and are happy to provide the space for the vaccination center free of charge,” says Fabiola Peiniger, center manager at Girlan Immobilien and responsible for the property. “Only by standing shoulder to shoulder can we move forward in these very challenging times for society as well as for retailers and the restaurant industry.”
“The vaccination center in the shopping center neustädter is an important extension of the vaccination offer in the district of Gießen,” says district administrator Anita Schneider. “The state and federal government have once again assigned the public health service a leading role in the vaccination strategy due to the necessary booster vaccinations for all people aged 18 and older, and have called on all stakeholders in the health sector to increase capacity. With the Immunization Center, we are creating another inpatient service in a central location and complementing the services offered by the regional medical community.”
A big thank you from the district administrator goes to the owner of the shopping center neustädter, the company Corestate, and Girlan Immobilien as center management. That’s because for use as an immunization center, the county can use the space on the second floor without paying rent. “This is a great and noteworthy gesture of social and solidarity commitment in coping with the pandemic. We accept this offer with pleasure,” says District Administrator Schneider.
René Parmantier, CEO Corestate, adds: “I know from my own experience what it means to fall ill with Corona. For this reason, I can only recommend everyone to get vaccinated. As Corestate, we are very pleased to be able to support the county in its vaccination initiative and are very happy to make the premises available.”
The Immunization Center will open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, beginning Dec. 1. Online appointment booking will be accessible later today, starting Nov. 29, via the Giessen County Corona information site corona.lkgi.de under the “Immunize” menu item.
Tenants in the neustädter include H&M, Media Markt, Müller Drogerie, Woolworth, Tegut, Penny, Kult, Tally Weijl, Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Bastler Zentrale, Apollo Optik, Reno, Shoes & More, FitX and numerous gastronomic offerings. The advantages of the only inner-city shopping center in Giessen with a leasable area of around 32,000 square meters include excellent transport links, more than 1,000 parking spaces in the adjoining multi-storey parking lot, the large catchment area of around 870,000 inhabitants and the above-average proportion of young people in the university town.
